Private Equities universe now available in FactSet

August 22, 2025

Today we launch a major new product with FactSet, the private equities transition risk standard data feed. This product will shortly be followed by access to this data in the Workstation. Customers will be able to skip the onerous

By leveraging machine learning models trained on public company emissions data from comparable industries and financial profiles, the platform can generate emissions estimates for private companies using financial inputs like revenue, total assets, and total debt. This methodology recognizes that private companies operate with similar emissions intensities to their public counterparts within the same sectors, allowing investors to achieve comprehensive portfolio coverage without requiring private companies to undertake costly emissions measurement and reporting processes.

The models maintain accuracy levels appropriate for PCAF Score 4 classifications, providing institutional-grade emissions data that would otherwise require extensive engagement with each portfolio company to obtain.

The private equities universe is based on FactSet’s Truvalue private universe coverage and is made up of entities that have sufficient financial data or reported emissions data to have a full set of emissions scopes, and enough financial data to provide sufficiently robust risk analysis.

The private equities universe data is available from 2020 to present.
